Grand Central
I have been to New York for a total of a month spread over a few years and each time I am always interested in fulfilling a brief. This one was concerned with rush hour and in Grand Central Station I was surprised at how a simple idea can make for a really effective image. The light shaft came though the window and hit the one stair case that led down to the underground. I was so excited with the repetition and results I got that put together and printed large scale it makes for a great single shot.
This month I have been shortlisted for an online magazine called Pictory Magazine with this image. I have to say it is one of my favourite images I have taken.
Let me know what you think of this photo.

I commute through GCS everyday and have taken a few photographs—mostly blurred motion—here and there. Mostly though, I just want to get on my train and escape the place! I probably take the station for granted since I'm there frequently. I like how you've captured that feeling here and how the final image has abstract qualities. I'll have my eyes open wider when I walk through there tonight. How large is the final image? Just wondering. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteI love this picture...
ReplyDeleteHi Glenn,
ReplyDeleteApologies I have only just found this comment!
Thank you for the insight into your experience of GCS - I can imagine that on a daily basis it could be quite hard to take in a few moments of beauty as I found, it was quite a busy place at rush time!
The image can be blown up quite large and I had it at A1 size for an exhibition a long time ago. I think the larger it goes the more detail you get and the more impact it has.
Do you have a blog I can follow? Are you a photographer?
Toto - thanks for the positive comment also!
